Jack’sBeanstalk | Feature and Review
When I stumbled upon Jack’sBeanstalk on etsy I was immediately drawn to the vibrant colors and the unique and beautiful alphabet balls and other little pieces of art that were classified as toys. I wish there would have been something like that for my kids when they were little!
The artist and creative mind behind Jack’sBeanstalk, Jennifer Dalton, thought she was going to be an art teacher. She earned degrees in both Studio Art and Education (making children’s books along the way), but when she couldn’t find a teaching job, she reluctantly became part of Corporate America. As a financial analyst in a Fortune 500 firm, she officially sold out. She is happy to report that after many years, she has since left Corporate America. Lucky for us Jennifer followed her heart and started to create art again.
That led her to start Jack’sBeanstalk which creates eco-friendly, education-based toys for toddlers and preschoolers.
All of the products are made using a technique called needle felting.
Simply put, needle felting is the act of poking a needle into piles of wool to bind the fibers together. Using a single, barbed needle borrowed from commercial felting machines, wool fibers are tangled and compacted by repeatedly jabbing the needle into the fibers, forming three-dimensional felt sculptures bound only by one’s imagination. Items created by Jack’s Beanstalk make great gifts because they are beautiful, functional and eco-friendly.
You may even find some for the not-so-young “kids” in your life!
After browsing through the shop I came across the adorable felted gumball mobile and it got my mind turning. How fun would that be as a backdrop. I contacted Jenn and she was loved the idea and ran with it. A few weeks later this amazing felted ball backdrop arrived at the studio. It looked like the candy dots that we used to have as kids!! How fun!! I was so excited to try it out on some of my little clients.
The curtain will be offered as a custom item and you can contact Jenn through her etsy shop if you are interested in pricing or information on how to purchase.
To celebrate being a featured shop, Jack’sBeanstalk is offering a discount to all prop insanity readers…..15% off any purchase if you use the code PROPCODE15 at checkout. They are also giving away this adorable cupcake pincushion to one lucky prop insanity reader. What a great prop this would be for a first birthday or tea party shoot!!
